Laboratory Manager of a Fourier transform ion cyclotron
resonance mass spectrometry facility (ESI/FT-ICR-MS & IRMPD) -
University of Hong Kong
Duties and Responsibilities: To provide technical and scientific
consultation to the Environmental and Earth Science research community
in the area of Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass
spectrometry. The candidate should collaborate with faculty on research
using FT-ICR-MS as an analytical tool and supervise the use and
maintenance of a Bruker Apex 7.0T ESI Fourier transform ion cyclotron
resonance mass spectrometer and IRMPD laser. He/She is to train new
users of the ESI/FT-ICR-MS facility and associated computer software as
well as develop and optimize new mass spectrometric methodologies. The
candidate should also work with the Laboratory Director and
Instrumentation Committee to devise and implement cost-recovery schemes
for instrument usage and initiate grant applications for equipment
purchase as necessary.
Basic Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry and/or at least two years of
equivalent experience in Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass
spectrometry required.
Additional Qualifications: Background in organic and inorganic
chemistry. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to
work effectively with faculty, students, and staff. Experience with
Unix-based systems, PC’s, and software for data collection and
